Your Unique Path: How Human Design Empowers Self-Development

Many of us do not realize it, but information always presents itself to us at exactly the perfect moment in life, when we are ready to appreciate and receive it but also exactly when we feel at a crossroads, whether it be with ourselves or with decisions we have to make in our life.

Human Design was exactly that for me.

It rocked my world in the best way when I needed it most. It was around 2018 or 2019, and I was going through a period of change and transformation. I was able to create some of the things in my life that I wanted, but I was also using force, resistance, and a lot of my energy for others. I was definitely not always acting from my deepest and most authentic self, and I could tell I had imposter syndrome, low self-worth, and people-pleasing tendencies. While I was confident in what I wanted to achieve, moving to Geneva and being thrown into a new environment made me unsure about where and how I should place my energy, how I should make decisions, and how to genuinely interact from a place that felt good for me.

“Human Design showed me the way to use my energy and how I should make decisions.”

Human Design isn't just a personality system or astrology forecast—it’s a transformative tool that shows you your potential by revealing the blueprint of your energy and purpose. If you already love self-development or are ready to understand some newer ways to go deeper in self-discovery and personal growth, understanding your Human Design can be the step towards living authentically and in alignment with your true self. For some people, it might be too out there; for me, as someone who always wants to learn more about myself, I just became curious and open rather than closed and skeptical about it.

It helped me that my mom was the person who presented the information to me and with so much practical advice it became easy to experiment with. I also knew that she had done her research and had spent time looking at the systems that worked or made sense to use in life.

Yeugenia Kazantseva, my mother, who is also an amazing transformational coach, has been doing work in self-development for more than three decades, whether it be through masterclasses, coaching, spiritual work, and more. (Find more on Yeugenia’s personalized coaching using metaphysical systems here: Yeugenia.)

When she was coming to Geneva, I wanted to put on a Human Design master class, but if you missed it or you do not live in Geneva, here is some information on this amazing system for you to know…

What Makes Human Design Special?

Imagine a map personalized just for you, crafted because of the moment you were born. Human Design combines ancient wisdom from four main systems: astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah, and the chakra system, to create this map, offering insights into your personality traits, strengths, and areas for growth. It’s like having a metaphysical guidebook to yourself and life helping you navigate those exciting ups and painful downs.

I know for some people metaphysical tools like astrology feel a bit “woo woo” but my words to those people are don’t knock it till you try it. I think most people I have worked with who get the information about themselves are so shocked at how accurate it is that it becomes impossible not to go and, at the very least, test out the practical tools that you can use to make your life flow for you.

The first part of the revelation around Human Design usually is about…

Discovering Your Type

In Human Design, you're classified into one of five types—Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, or Reflector. Each type comes with its own strategy for interacting with the world and making decisions. Understanding your type empowers you to leverage your natural strengths and helps you position yourself in a unique role in relationships, career, and personal development.

Here’s a quick look at the types and their prevalence in the world:

  • Manifestors: Pioneers who initiate and catalyze change (approximately 9% of the population).

  • Generators: Masters of sustainable energy and work ethic (about 37% of the population).

  • Manifesting Generators: Multi-passionate dynamos who thrive on intuition and action (around 33% of the population).

  • Projectors: Visionaries with a knack for guiding and advising (about 20% of the population).

  • Reflectors: Rare mirrors of collective energy, sensitive to their surroundings (approximately 1% of the population).

As a Projector, I’ve discovered that my journey is about mastering the art of waiting for recognition and invitations. In everything I do… Including finding my dream partner.

Number 1 realization was that when I force myself into

While my profile, the 6/3, is about experiencing life so I can share my wisdom later on. It’s about being the responsible adventurer who goes and lives and tries out everything so that they can then become the mentor to others. These two aspects of my design really stuck with me once I knew them. Even today, when I feel lost, I really think about what it is that is making me bitter or how I can actually use my insights or experiment with something to get back into alignment. It gave me this meditative non-judgmental perspective over my life.

Centers and Authority: Your Intuition, aka Your Inner Guide

Human Design also explores nine energy centers that influence how you experience and interact with the world. These centers, whether defined or undefined in your chart, reveal insights into your emotional, communicative, and spiritual dimensions. Additionally, your unique authority—be it emotional, sacral, or spleen—guides your decision-making process, helping you align actions with your inner truth.

Finding out my energy centers are completely open, which has made me adaptable and malleable to my atmosphere and my community, explains why I can be easily drawn to new ideas or new groups and why I have moved to five different countries and felt at home in different ways in each. Understanding my authority and the fact that, for example, I have a splenic intuition that speaks in silence has been pivotal in understanding how to make decisions aligned with my true desires. Knowing I have to spend time alone and in silence to understand and hear that small voice has been super important. Overall, this knowledge has just empowered me to navigate life's challenges with a clearer perspective, fostering deeper self-trust and allowing personal growth.

Practical Applications in Self-Development

Since each design has a strategy, authority, type, and even a profile associated (those are the basics to know), you already have a very simple way forward to understand so many things about yourself. For me, that practical application came from my strategy, which was “to wait for an invitation.” This meant before acting, as a Projector, I had to get the feeling of an energetic or formal invitation to be part of a discussion to share my insights or provide my services. Until someone truly invites me to be part of something, if I am contributing without their desire or invitation, then my knowledge will go unvalued. WOAHHH! Like, take that in for a moment! If you are a Projector and you are BITTER right now about someone not valuing you… Did you wait for an invitation to give them some piece of yourself? That one thing really started opening new doors for me.

That’s why I genuinely think Human Design principles in your life can be a game-changer for self-development or even alongside your coaching journey. By honoring your strategy and authority, you cultivate authenticity and make choices that resonate deeply with who you are. Whether you’re navigating career transitions, seeking fulfilling relationships, or exploring personal growth, Human Design offers practical tools to navigate challenges and optimize opportunities.

Stepping Away From Imposter Syndrome and Embracing Authenticity

Your Human Design isn't just a static map—it’s a living, breathing guide to embracing your authentic self. It’s the best way to stop feeling like you are not the “right version” of you and start embracing all the versions that make up that person. I love Human Design also because there are so many aspects of it that you can go very deep into, like your cross, which is the theme that runs throughout your life. Mine is the Cross of Individualism, demonstrating to me that I literally have to break away from the limitations of my community or society to choose my own path.

Then whether you are here to serve or learn for your own purposes, what your gifts are and how you are meant to use them, and so on.

I find when you use this metaphysical guide to help you understand yourself, you also allow yourself the gift of playing with life. Not just acting as if everything is how it is to punish you but actually allowing you to say, “Okay, this has not been working for me; let’s test out something else,” then use the tools to try a new way to achieve things you are looking to achieve but doing it with joy. I found for me it actually unlocked pathways to self-acceptance, deeper connections, and meaningful achievements. I started embracing my quirks and seeing my strengths, and my self-worth shot up exponentially as I realized that my unique self is already perfect as is!

Embracing my profile has allowed me to learn my natural gifts, which are guidance and insight. Then I began using those gifts throughout everything I do in my life. Whether it’s my role in seeking out new investment opportunities, advising entrepreneurs, coaching my clients, or working with teams, I can use them interchangeably wherever I am. By understanding myself, I now have the ability to put myself in the correct roles where I can truly shine and make a positive impact.

Understanding more about yourself is the key to unlocking the next level of your growth.

Embrace Your Design, Embrace Yourself

If you want to try learning about your design, you can always try to do research online, although it can never give you the in-depth knowledge you are looking for, but it can give you some insights. I personally love the My Human Design app by Jenna Zoe (find it here). It gives the information in a palatable way, and she includes daily tips and meditations to embrace your type. It’s a great introduction to design without an expert or coach near you!

Otherwise, if you want a full Human Design reading or to organize a virtual Human Design master class for you and your best friends, co-workers, or team, we would be happy to organize that for you. Reach out to me through the contact page and specify what you are looking for, and we would be happy to organize that for you!

Truly though, Human Design has the potential to offer more than just insights—it offers a pathway to self-knowledge and empowerment and a playbook for the game of life.

Whether you are just looking to do something different in life and need an accountability person and coach to help you work through the noise in your head, or you are looking for that trampoline to propel you forward, or you want to learn something new and go deeper in understanding yourself and live your life authentically, reach out to me so I can give you the tools to get there.
