Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to Support Your Wellness Routine at Physio2Sport

In the pursuit of holistic well-being, exploring diverse healing therapies has become a cornerstone for many individuals, myself included. From ancient practices to modern innovations, these therapies offer a supportive pillar to lean on in addressing physical, mental, and emotional facets of wellness. For me, my go-to for the last little while has been acupuncture. This Traditional Chinese Medicine practice is incredibly healing and balancing; it helps reduce stress and boost my immunity, and I have incorporated it into my wellness routine as a non-negotiable for over three years now. Acupuncture has helped me balance my hormones, as well as boost certain organs that had been overly taxed from both emotional and physical overuse. Eastern practices of medicine view our organs not only as used in physical ways but also as inherent parts of our emotional health.

Many people seek help with managing chronic stress and worry. Did you know that if you overworry, this lives in your stomach and minimizes the Qi (energy flow) of your stomach? This can result in unwanted digestive upset or IBS-like symptoms. While fear is tied to the kidneys, and having too many fears can reduce kidney function. What I have figured out during my experiences with my digestive and skin health is that everything is connected, hence the importance of incorporating various healing therapies to help optimize your health.

Another practice I have started to incorporate into my routine more recently is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. I have been aware of this therapy for decades, as my godparents have been using it and distributing them across the EU through their business OxyHealthEurope (https://www.oxyhealth.eu/contact-us/). My godmother, Dr. Masha Makeeva (https://drmasha.com/ ) who is a doctor of naturopathic medicine, introduced me to naturopathy, alternative healing and food and herbs as medicine when I was younger. They even let me use their home hyperbaric machine when I was around 20 years old in Spain to try it out for the first time. However, at the time, hyperbaric machines were really only used by athletes because there were so few in circulation in real clinics. Dr. Masha Makeeva has specialized in using Hyperbarics to help her patients with various ailments and has even started a podcast, How to Hyperbaric (https://drmasha.com/podcast/) to share the amazing findings of this healing therapy alongside other practitioners, doctors and proponents of HBOT therapy.

So you can imagine how excited I was when finally hyperbaric oxygen therapy became available in Geneva to regular people like me at Physio2sport clinic’s beautiful location.

Physio2Sport’s Innovative Clinic

Filippo Besozzi, CEO, and Founder of physiO2sport (https://physio2sport.com/about) , conceived the innovative concept of integrating physiotherapy, sports preparation, Chinese and Japanese acupuncture, and cutting-edge hyperbaric oxygen therapy for advanced cellular regeneration.

With a profound background in physiotherapy, Filippo leverages his extensive experience to provide patients with top-tier techniques for exceptional rehabilitation results. The incorporation of hyperbaric oxygen therapy positions physiO2sport as a trailblazing center in Switzerland, offering this groundbreaking treatment to individuals in an easily accessible way. Which, to date, has not existed in this format before.

The clinic has an outstanding team that are supportive through every step of the way from your first to your 100th hyperbaric therapy. Filippo, alongside Anais Pelletier, his trusted manager and facilitator in the clinic, who also studied nutritional health and has a passion for biohacking, have revolutionized wellness through this clinic.

Physio2Sport also houses a fitness area where clients can benefit from personal training from the likes of Michelle Cohen, a trusted boot camp and personal training coach who actually introduced me to the clinic.

But what is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, you might ask…

Hyperbarics: Revitalizing Cellular Healing

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) stands as a cutting-edge treatment, leveraging the potential of pure oxygen in a pressurized environment to stimulate the body's natural healing processes. By immersing oneself in an oxygen-rich chamber, the body absorbs increased oxygen levels, enhancing tissue repair, reducing inflammation, and promoting cellular regeneration. This therapy has found success in accelerating recovery from injuries, alleviating chronic conditions, and even aiding in mental clarity and focus.

HBOT operates on the principle of increasing air pressure inside a specialized chamber. This pressurized environment allows patients to breathe pure oxygen at levels higher than normal atmospheric pressure. The increased pressure and elevated oxygen levels during HBOT contribute to enhanced healing mechanisms within the body. This includes increased oxygen delivery to tissues, promotion of angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), and reduction of inflammation. This essentially allows your body to improve collagen, repair tissue and also clean your body of old and damaged cells which has been proven to slow aging and extend life.

During a typical HBOT session, patients enter a hyperbaric chamber. These chambers come in various forms, from individual units to larger, room-sized facilities. The session duration usually ranges from 60 to 90 minutes, and the number of sessions recommended depends on the specific medical condition being addressed. The pressurized chamber is extremely comfortable at the clinic and allows for clients to read, nap or listen to music. It truly just feels like a restful pause during the day.

Acupuncture: Balancing Body and Mind

Another one of my personal favourites that is also offered at the clinic is acupuncture. This ancient practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points along the body's meridians to restore energy flow and balance. This technique not only relieves pain but also addresses a wide array of ailments, including stress, insomnia, digestive issues, and more. Its efficacy lies in its ability to stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms, fostering harmony within the body and mind. While traditional acupuncture focuses on needles put into meridians on the body, Filippo Bezossi also employs the most innovative technology to traditional acupuncture practises by offering electric acupuncture to heighten healing potential. If you are already a fan of acupuncture or have a chronic condition whether physical or emotional I suggest you test out the advanced acupuncture at the clinic and see how you feel!

Cupping: Detoxification and Pain Relief

Cupping therapy, with its distinctive suction cups placed on the skin's surface, promotes blood flow, releases muscle tension, and facilitates toxin elimination. This modality aids in pain relief, relaxation, and detoxification, often leaving distinct circular marks that signify the release of tension and stagnation within the body. Cupping has also been employed as an ancient practises and its hard to find a good cupping studio in Geneva. Again, the clinic houses the most modern and advanced tools to enhance the traditional practise and I already cannot wait to try this as my next healing therapy.

Physiotherapy: Tailored Rehabilitation

At Physio2Sport Clinic in Geneva, the overall approach is personalized. Filippo also employs offers physiotherapy catering to individual needs and specific goals alongside all the other healing therapies. He employs a combination of hands-on techniques, exercise prescription, and cutting-edge modalities to rehabilitate injuries, enhance mobility, and optimize physical performance. This comprehensive approach aims not only for recovery but also for preventing future injuries, empowering individuals to lead active, pain-free lives. In addition, the access to hyperbaric chambers being available all the time allows for clients to take the speed of healing into their own hands.

While I don’t need any physical therapy in my case, for example, to support the health of my skin and my digestive system, I intend to regularly attend HBOT sessions twice a month, making this healing therapy a regular practice in my routine. I know this therapy complements and enhances the healing effects of all the other things I am doing to heal my skin, digestive, and hormonal health. In addition, simultaneously being a regular and active fitness enthusiast I know that my cells will regenerate more quickly, which will also improve the health of my muscles and help aid in tissue repair supporting my overall passion to workout and be active. (A win-win!!)

The integration of these therapies within one’s overall health goals can be diagnosed at Physio2Sport Clinic and can ultimately create a synergy that promotes overall wellness. Whether seeking to boost collagen, get relief from chronic pain, enhance athletic performance, or simply aiming for optimal health, the collaborative efforts of these therapies pave the way for holistic healing.

In the pursuit of well-being, it's crucial to acknowledge the immense potential that these therapies offer. I have fully embraced the power of Hyperbarics and Acupuncture in my life and I know that each one of us could use a tailored approach to support our body. Physio2Sport Clinic Geneva offers individuals like you and I support on their wellness journey toward profound healing, enabling them to reach their wellness goals sooner.
